Adult Reconstruction
The Division of Adult Reconstruction at Nims Hospital is committed to the evaluation and treatment of patients in the region and beyond who are suffering from arthritic conditions of the hip and knee. We provide expert care for those patients in need of total hip or knee replacement, secondary to arthritis, osteonecrosis, post-traumatic conditions and previous joint replacement difficulties. We perform numerous replacements annually, including the most complex cases referred from Rajasthan, India and overseas. Unique services include minimally invasive surgery, computer-assisted techniques, and joint preservation surgery for the hip and knee.  The Division of Adult Reconstruction is dedicated to outstanding patient care, the education of future orthopaedic surgeons, and to the dissemination of new knowledge and techniques pertaining to the treatment of arthritis. Current research endeavours include basic scientific inquiry into a novel treatment for osteonecrosis, innovative revision surgical techniques, and rapid recovery following joint replacement surgery. Foot and Ankle

NIMS Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is one of only a few centres in Rajasthan with best Foot and Ankle Fellowship trained Orthopaedic Surgeons on faculty. As Orthopaedic Surgeons, we utilize our extensive training and understanding of the entire musculoskeletal system to provide integrated, comprehensive care for a wide spectrum of disorders of the lower extremity. Since arthritis, ligamentous instability, and mal-alignment of the Foot and Ankle can have a significant effect on other joints (knee, hip, spine), the impact on the entire lower extremity must be considered. Whether your problem is relatively simple or extremely complex, it can have a profound negative effect on your desired level of activity and quality of life. Given this unique perspective, our team strives to utilize techniques that provide durable, literature-proven correction of Foot and Ankle pathology. We are honoured to obtain referrals from other orthopaedic surgeons, physicians, podiatrists, physical therapists, and athletic trainers throughout Rajasthan and beyond. When a musculoskeletal provider has exhausted appropriate non-operative measures, patients are often referred to the Nims Hospital for evaluation by one of our Foot and Ankle surgeons or physician assistants. Our Team specializes in the treatment of sports injuries, arthritis, tendon dysfunction/ ruptures, flatfoot deformity, adolescent/congenital deformity, fractures/dislocations, diabetic/Charcot deformity, and symptomatic forefoot deformity. By working closely with physical therapists, trainers, and Nims Prosthetics and Orthotics Department, we are able to offer the most effective non-operative management for these disorders. When surgical intervention is necessary, we utilize advanced techniques including ankle arthroplasty, complex arthrodesis, arthroscopic surgery, allograft ligament/tendon reconstruction, and bone marrow/stem cell augmentation.

Hand and Upper Extremity
The Nims Hospital Hand Division is a comprehensive multifaceted medical facility dedicated to the care of the hand and upper extremity.  Located in Nims Super-specialty new building, the NIMS Hand Center is a unique collaboration between the Departments of Orthopaedic and Plastic Surgery.  We specialize in all disorders of the hand, wrist, and elbow and treat a wide spectrum of disorders from carpal tunnel syndrome and arthritis to complex fractures, sports injuries, neurovascular injuries, and congenital hand differences. We have a skilled team of clinical assistants, nurses, physician assistants, and surgeons who are specialized in caring for disorders of the hand and upper extremity and who will provide a team approach to your care.

Our centre is equipped with an onsite radiology suite which is staffed with radiologists who specialize in musculoskeletal imaging, diagnostic studies, and interventional procedures. Our centre also works in collaboration with Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, and Rehabilitation Medicine who provide a certified hand and upper extremity therapist in every clinic to customize your rehabilitation. Our team approach is unique and provides you with access to professionally trained specialists in multiple areas of healthcare all at one location.

Orthopedic Oncology


The Orthopaedic Oncology Division serves patients in the treatment of both benign and malignant tumours of the extremities, pelvis and shoulders. This area includes tumours that originate in the soft tissues and bone and tumours that have travelled from other organs to the bone.  Dr Domson has years of experience in treating these rare and complicated conditions in children and adults and divides his time between UVA and MCV in Richmond.

Orthotics and Prosthetics
To provide the best possible Prosthetic and Orthotic care to our patients in a timely and efficient manner. Pediatrics Orthopedic Surgery

The Division of Pediatric Orthopaedics has a core mission of providing expert specialty care to neonates, children and adolescents with problems involving the musculoskeletal system. These problems can include spinal deformities such as scoliosis, fractures and other injuries, limb deformities of a congenital nature or occurring from abnormal growth; as well as derangements produced by chronic conditions such as cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophies and other conditions affecting the neuro-muscular system. The expert care is offered in a specialized setting, the NIMS Children’s Wing at the New Hospital Building, and supported by professionals trained to care for children. The research mission follows logically to improve our treatments of musculoskeletal conditions and to optimize treatment pathways. Disseminating our clinical knowledge and our research finding, as well as training professionals in the area of pediatric orthopaedics is the core of our educational mission.

Sports Medicine

The NIMS Sports Medicine team takes care of athletes and non-athletes of all ages and activity levels. Our fellowship trained surgeons treat all types of injuries and conditions of the shoulder, hip and knee. We also are proud to be a team of experts who are also dedicated for the social serivice as a cause and is deeply involved in the community as hands on extending their services on the regular basis. 

We are involved in many areas of clinical research to expand the knowledge and available treatments for athletic injuries.
